How do I get a Visa for Brazil?
A tourist Visa is NOT required for US and Canadian citizens traveling to Brazil for the Olympic Games, but it is required for China citizens. The cost to obtain a TOURIST visa is approximately $300 USD and takes several weeks or longer. To begin researching the cost and process,access the following:
ALL participants are responsible for securing their own tickets to attend Olympic events. Tickets to select events are already available and can be purchased through the CoSport website (www.cosport.com). Information is also available at http://www.rio2016.com/en/get-involved/tickets. Costs (not including opening/closing ceremonies) typically range from US $50-$400. The Torch Run, Cycling, and Road Racing are free events. The contingency routinely attends the torch relay as a group. In addition, the contingency routinely travels to a location with outdoor monitors as nearby the Opening Ceremonies as possible to enjoy an entire day of camaraderie among the cultural mecca of spectators from around the world.
What are the accommodations?
In Greece, the TU Olympic group "camped" on a villa rooftop in Pallini overlooking the Aegean Sea. In China, the group resided at the Asia Pacific School of Beijing Normal University. In London, England, participants resided at the at the Clink261 hostel located in central London which was a two-minute walk to the Kings Cross underground terminal train station featured in Harry Potter. Participants resided in bunk beds and had access to daily complimentary continental breakfast, storage for luggage, lockers, laundry room, 24-hour reception, lounge, Wi-Fi access, secure key card access...and much more.
The accommodations in Brazil are in apartments secured through airbnb in Leblon.. Consideration was given to security, public transportation, access to the Olympic reunion center and access to Olympic events.

Participants will be assigned to one of several apartments (and possibly bedrooms). Apartments are proximate to each other. There are limited single beds including futons or single mattresses. Some participants will be sharing a double or queen bed, however there are opportunities for someone to sleep on a couch, purchase a mattress/air-mattress, or sleep on the floor if preferred. Photos and specifics will be detailed once the apartments have been secured
What about transportation?
Ground transportation from the airport to the accommodations (2 vans) is provided in the cost of the program> Ground transportation will be arranged for the flight home on August 16 for individuals attending the Sport Symposium located at Rio De Janeiro State University, however, participants with event tickets will make their own arrangements for transportation to the airport a their own expense (public transportation is FREE with a Game ticket). Trip Advisor notes that public transportation in Rio is affordable - taxi's, Uber, bus service, executive bus service (Frescao), and the metro are available in Rio. Typically, Public transportation (bus or metro/subway) is FREE with an official Olympic ticket (valid only for the date of the event).
What extracurricular activities are required?
Participants will be required to actively engage in the humanitarian project for underprivileged youth selected to participate in a Day with Olympians. Participants are also required to volunteer a minimum of (TBD) hours at the Olympic Reunion Center - Clube de Regatas do Flemengo - and/or at Casa Africa. Finally, participants will be required to attend lectures, dinners, or tours arranged specifically for the contingency - ideally one additional half or full day.. Dates and times will be arranged and announced to minimize conflicts with purchased event tickets.
